Zhi Mu (Anemarrhena asphodeloides) is an evergreen perennial native to China, Korea and Mongolia, at home on mountain woodland edges, exposed slopes and grassy steppes. It forms a tuft of narrow grass-like leaves and slender spikes of small purplish flowers above a thick, fleshy, yellow-brown rhizome, which is dug and dried for herbal use.
